OR Poised for Tourism Recovery as Aviation Fuel Demand Grows Expands in Phuket with Budget Hotels to Boost Thailand’s Tourism

M.L. Peekthong Thongyai, Chief Executive Officer of PTT Oil and Retail Business Public Company Limited (OR), outlined OR’s business strategy, which focuses on pursuing new business opportunities to meet consumers’ evolving lifestyles and further strengthen the OR Ecosystem. Despite various challenges, Thailand’s tourism industry continues to show positive signs, with further growth potential following the government’s efforts to stimulate travel alongside enhanced safety standards aimed at building confidence among both domestic and international tourists. Phuket, in particular, remains one of the key destinations for both domestic and international tourists. OR operates an aviation fuel business, providing aviation refueling services in accordance with the international JIG Standard to more than 30 domestic and international airlines.

Ms. Rajsuda Rungsiyakull, Senior Executive Vice President, Special Services 1 at OR, revealed that in April 2026, OR signed a joint venture agreement with Centara Hotels & Resorts. Under the partnership, OR holds a 49% stake and Centara holds 51% to develop Budget Hotels on high-potential sites both within and outside PTT Station premises. Leveraging the extensive PTT Station network located along major routes nationwide and offering convenient access, the hotels will provide comfortable and accessible accommodation options tailored to the needs of modern travelers. The first phase will pilot six model hotels in high-potential locations, including Phuket, Kanchanaburi, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Songkhla (Hat Yai), Chonburi, and Bangkok. The hotels will serve tourists, road travelers, and business travelers seeking convenient accommodation along their journeys. Each room will provide essential amenities and incorporate Friendly Design throughout the hotel, from entrances to guest rooms, promoting inclusivity and accessibility for customers with diverse physical needs, including people with disabilities, older adults, pregnant women, and children. The hotels will also provide parking facilities and 24-hour CCTV surveillance, with key highlights including travel convenience, safety, cleanliness, and excellent value, with rates starting from THB 800 to 1,300 per night. In addition, the hotels will be designed with a focus on energy efficiency and environmental friendliness. The hotels are expected to gradually open in 2027-2028, with a target of expanding the network to 50 locations by 2031. This initiative will further expand OR’s business and transform PTT Stations from mere “pit stops” for refueling or having a coffee into safe and reliable overnight accommodation destinations nationwide. It will maximize the use of existing sites to create added value, convert existing service users into overnight guests, and generate new revenue streams from the existing customer base, while also supporting the recovery of Thailand’s tourism industry.

“All these efforts reflect the ‘OR Term Okad Dee Dee Dee’ concept, which aims to foster a ‘Good Environment’ through the use of clean energy and circular economy principles, alongside building a ‘Good Community’ by distributing income to local entrepreneurs and improving people’s quality of life inclusively. This approach drives ‘Good Growth’, fostering stable and shared growth together with partners and society. It underscores that every service within the OR Ecosystem, from aviation fuel and Budget Hotels to every stop at a PTT Station, is more than just a place to pause along the journey. It is the starting point of a journey that creates value for people, communities, and the environment alike,” M.L. Peekthong concluded.
