Importance

                 The right to live in a healthy environment is a fundamental right that everyone should have access to. This includes access to clean air, freedom from water pollution, and effective waste management. Since humans have relied on the environment and natural resources from previous and present. Therefore, responsibility on environmental management that addresses impacts on all stakeholders has become an essential aspect of conducting sustainable business.

                 According to the Global Risks Report 2024 by the World Economic Forum, environmental-related risks have been ranked among the most severe long-term global risks. These includes 1) extreme weather events (ranked as the top global risk) 2) Significant changes to Earth’s systems (a newly ranked risk introduced this year) 3) Biodiversity loss and ecosystem collapse (ranked third.) 4) Natural resource shortages (ranked fourth) and 5) Air, water, and soil pollution (ranked tenth).

                 OR places great importance on and fully recognizes that conducting business requires the use of resources, which may impact the environment. Therefore, prioritizing environmental management has become a key focus for OR, aim to effectively implement it through a clear stance on a strong commitment to conducting business responsibly toward the environment, society, and communities while maintaining trust and competitiveness. This results in an approach under the concept of OR SDG (Small, Diversified, Green), representing OR’s unique path toward building a sustainable future to effectively meet the OR 2030 goals, by creating sustainable opportunities through supporting the establishment of a sustainable low-carbon society, encourages businesses to become green enterprises (GREEN).

Management Approach

                 OR has established an environmental management system in accordance with the Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) Policy. The company aims to mitigate and prevent environmental impacts throughout the value chain by maximizing the benefit of natural resources using, in line with the principles of the Bio-Circular-Green Economy, while adhering to waste and pollution control regulations that may affect the environment. OR also applies ISO 14001, the environmental management system, as a guideline in operations, which covers petroleum terminals, gas depots, oil depots, OASYS lifestyle business centers, the Lubricant Distribution Centre at Bang Pakong, and Phra Khanong office buildings. All of the aforementioned establishments have been certified for environmental management by external organizations (14001 Certification).

                 OR sets annual environmental performance targets that align with the corporate goal or OR 2030 Goals under the Healthy Environment dimension. This target has the objective to create a sustainable environment by increasing renewable energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and decreasing waste generated from business operations by more than one-third compared to the year 2022. This includes the implementation of the Quality, Safety, Health, and Environment Management System with the SSHE Performance Database as a system for Environmental Performance Indicators (EPI) data collecting. This system covers all establishments operated by OR, encompassing both the oil business and retail operations. The Sustainability and Quality, Safety, Health, and Environment department monitors environmental operations and uses the data for analysis to continually enhance environmental management processes.

QSHE Policy

                 In addition, OR has established and developed standards for PTT Station (Service Station Standard) and LPG filling plants, which include environmental management requirements such as waste management and wastewater management. These standards are communicated to customers and PTT Station dealers, as well as LPG filling stations. Furthermore, there is regular inspection and evaluation of the environmental operations of PTT Stations managed by OR.

                 OR has established a policy to promote education and training of employees and raise awareness on the environment following the Quality, Safety, Health, and Environment (QSHE) policy. In 2024, OR conducted training courses in environmental management as shown as the following:

                 Energy Management System Training (Energy Sharing), led by the experts of energy evaluation and energy management system development. The training was conducted both onsite and online for employees involved in energy-related operations and interested personnel. The goal is to develop energy-related personnel’s knowledge and understanding of basic energy management, measurement methods, energy performance evaluation, and energy conservation.

                 Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) Inventory Evaluation Training, including field visits to study equipment for VOCs evaluation at OR’s operational areas such as petroleum terminal, LPG cylinder refurbishing plant, and Factories within OASYS lifestyle business centers, aims to provide employees with the knowledge and understanding of VOCs. This will enable them to conduct VOCs assessments correctly and efficiently.

                 Environmental Law Training, conducted onsite for all employees, aims to provide employees with knowledge and understanding of the key aspects of currently enacted environmental laws. It also seeks to enhance their capacity for effectively managing pollution that affects the workplace environment.

Performance

                 Due to the commitment to adhering to environmental management requirements and regulations, there were no instances of violations of environmental laws and regulations in OR’s operations across all businesses in 2024.

                 Additionally, in 2024, OR was honored with the “Kon Dee Rak Lok” Award by the Senate Committee on Religion, Morality, Ethics, Arts, and Culture. This award is presented to organizations that uphold exemplary principles and practices in promoting awareness and driving efforts toward natural resource conservation. As an organization committed to environmental responsibility, OR has actively implemented sustainable practices to preserve and protect the environment.
